Juno: the start-up that fights menstrual pain

Juno Technologies les affaires

Did you know that only 0.1% of scientific articles deal with menstrual pain? Quite shocking! To date, there are few modern solutions on the market. Many women can only resort to anti-inflammatory drugs or the famous “magic bags” to relieve them.

Fortunately, Montreal entrepreneur Nanette Sene has taken a look at the issue. She is actively working to develop a discreet, wearable device that will eliminate menstrual pain!

She is the co-founder of Juno Technologies, a Centech-powered startup. Nanette Sene and co-founder Lynn Doughane will have a prototype to test in about two months. Being electrical and mechanical engineers, they have a team consisting of a microelectronic engineer and an industrial designer.

With many great projects for the future, their team is bound to grow quite rapidly in the coming years.

The discreet device to relieve one of the most common gynecological problems: menstrual pain. A very widespread problem, but heavily understudied! Menstrual pain is caused by muscle cramps in the uterus and its intensity varies from one woman to another, depending on the level of prostaglandins secreted and their resistance to pain. The Juno Technologies device will be worn on the abdomen and will relax the muscles of the uterus and block pain signals through microelectronics. A solution that really attacks the source of the problem, unlike the contraceptive pill which is too often prescribed to women suffering from intense pain.

So stay tuned for the evolution of this start-up by women for women that seeks to have a significant positive impact on the menstrual cycle. It’s about time we opened up the dialogue on menstrual pain and looked for real solutions!
