February 11 marked International Day of Women and Girls in Science! 💜
This occasion is a reminder of the essential contribution made by women and girls to the scientific and technological communities, underlining the need to enhance and support their active participation.
Despite the significant progress made by women in advancing their presence in higher education, they remain under-represented in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
As the United Nations puts it:
“- Despite a skills shortage in most of the technological fields driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution, women still account for only 28% of engineering graduates and 40% of computer science and IT graduates.
- Women generally receive smaller research grants than their male colleagues, and although they account for 33.3% of all researchers, only 12% of members of national science academies are women.
- In cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, only one in five professionals (22%) is a woman.
- Female researchers tend to have shorter, less well-paid careers. Their work is under-represented in top-level journals and they are often passed over for promotion.”
At the heart of the creation of Juno Technologies are two women who chose engineering. Our journey is fueled by the dedication and passion of women in STEM. Today, 80% of our team is made up of women from a variety of scientific backgrounds. Together, we hope to promote women and girls in science!
Let’s celebrate the countless women around the world who are pushing back boundaries, advancing progress and shaping the future of science and technology. #WomenEnSTEM #DiversityEnScience #womenenscience 🌟💪
